Syn, how strange. Ive never heard of paint shop till, in the past two weeks Ive been introduced to it from 3 sources similtaneously. I had a go on it for an afternoon last week. cool, easy to use.
I think this is a message from beyond!!
well, we are sitting at the computers and he told me he was growing hair under his arms.
i just shook my head and said ok
well, i guess he could tell i didn't really believe him, so he pulled one out and showed it to me lol!
I didnt get a pube till I was 15 !!!
All the other boys in Gym class got pubes before I did, and, in the showers after Gym they called me "baldy"
i know us men aren't the most clever people on earth but sometimes we say things that are meant to be a compliment and we get slammed.. my ex-wife was saying once, that she thought her hair was getting thicker and i, in my logical way was trying to figure out if this could really be true.
i then thought about the fact that she had recently lost wieght and without thinking any further i blurted out.... "your hair is not getting thicker your head is not as fat.".
this is a true story.
That happened to me on this board. Moe knows about it. I tried to offer reassuring words to a poster who seemed very depressed and it was taken completely the wrong way and I was accused of attacking that poster. Im very misunderstood. Kisses Moe.
i'm curious about this, because it was fairly apparent that some newly baptized people didn't have a good grasp of a lot of the doctrinal points of jws.
mind you, doctrinal points vascillate quite a lot, so that's no surprise really, but you would think that the basics would be covered prior to allowing people to get baptized, wouldn't you?.
for instance, my brother-in-law's girlfriend didn't understand the ramifications of the blood doctrine when she got baptized (they wanted to get married in the kh, and unless she was baptized they wouldn't be allowed to do so).
"Do all questions have to be answered correctly"? Wish Id thought of that. I could have fluffed a couple of key questions and saved myself years of suffering.
self deluded channels and the justifications they concoct to excuse their false prophecies are a thing of fascination.
the most striking thing about these prophets is their predictability.
they all fall into the very same trap, they all get trapped by their own totalistic words .
Star. Your theory about "defence mechanisms" is something I have considered myself. Although I refer to them as "Identifier doctrines" . I think most of the churches must have their 'defence mechanism' as you refer to it. With Seventh Days it is most assuredly Saturday Sabbath. They believe that the observance of Saturday Sabbath is the ultimate TEST that identifies one as worthy of extermination or bliss. I would say that the key Witness Identifier is the door to door work. As to Christadelphians I confess I know nothing about them save that they hold to the date 1914 as the Witnesses do.
The Mormons are a funny lot. Its important to realize they were intensely persecuted for a very long time over matters of polygamy and trying to take over the town of Independence, Missouri in the 1830s . If any church is identified as the true church by virtue of persecution it is the Mormons, not the dubs.Because of the history of persecution the Mormon church is absorbed with self sufficiency, thrift, expansion, business development and building the state of "Zion". It is the most original church in the Western hemisphere, having many strange and unusual doctrines, too many to list completely. A radical experiment in churchianity.
.
for your meditation:.
what a man wishes, he generally believes to be true.. my 'take' on this is that it would go part way to explaining the reluctance, the cognitive dissonance, of many loyal members of the r&f who just refuse to believe that something's wrong in the borg.. what do you think?
Didnt you use this quote the other week? It seems very familiar. Perhaps its just such a significant utterance that it SEEMS Ive seen it before. Anyway.
It beggars explanation why people stay in organizations that cause them endless pain and stress in the pursuit of a future of pleasure and joy. Why the utopian dream should always turn into a present world nightmare is a mystery.
ive been reading up on the latter-day saint (mormon) doctrine of polygamy.
information on the church website (http://www.lds.org) says:
"in this dispensation, the lord commanded some of the early saints to practice plural marriage.
Hmmm. Well Polygamy was banned from the official Mormon Church in 1890 by the Prophet Willford Woodruff. If one reads the "Official declaration 1" which is the revelation given to the church banning polygamy (Located at the back of "Doctrine and Covenants") you will see that the Revelation abandoning polygamy was recieved after years and years of intense pressure and persecution from the United States Government upon the church for practising plurality of marriage. Woodruffs revelation conveys that it is literally a choice between the church being hounded out of existance and practising polygamy.
Yet another example of a "Divine Revelations" being altered by the course of reality.
does anyone need to let off some steam?
post something that made you mad or made you laugh at the kingdom hall lately and we can try to post parables to it.
